With reference to your cypher telegram of the

9th. January, of which I enclose a paraphrase, I have the honour

to report that the Naval Authorities here are unable to state when the Transport "Basilan" will be released from transport duties. I accordingly telegraphed to you as follows in cypher:-

"Your telegram of the 9th. January. The Naval Authorities are unable to say by what date the S. S. "Basilan" (late "Tennenfels") will be released from transport duties. I suggest that communication be made with the Admiralty."
